AI-Assisted Technologies Policy

GeoHuman permits the limited and transparent use of AI-assisted technologies for language editing, grammar checking, formatting support, translation assistance, reference organization, or readability improvement, provided that such use does not replace scholarly judgment, original analysis, or author accountability.

Authors must disclose any use of AI-assisted tools in the manuscript. The disclosure should state the tool used, the purpose of use, and the extent of use. AI tools must not be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the integrity, originality, accuracy, or ethical compliance of the work.

Authors remain fully responsible for all content, including text, data, analysis, citations, maps, tables, images, interpretations, and conclusions. Authors must verify that AI-assisted outputs do not contain fabricated references, inaccurate statements, plagiarism, biased interpretation, confidential information, or unsupported claims.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, generate false citations, manipulate images or maps, replace peer review, or conceal misconduct. Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or unpublished data to AI tools unless the tool is institutionally approved and confidentiality is guaranteed.

Example disclosure: “The author(s) used [tool name] only for language editing and grammar checking. The author(s) reviewed and verified all outputs and take full responsibility for the final content.”
